Role of the Child Protection Committee

We believe that all children and young people have the right to be cared for and protected from abuse and harm in a safe environment in which their rights are respected. All agencies need to work together in a collaborative way to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

The Chief Officers Group where the key agencies are represented and Child Protection Committee are the driving force for ensuring that agencies individually and collectively work to protect children and young people as effectively as possible.

The Child Protection Committee is an inter-agency group with responsibility for ensuring effective child protection services across South Lanarkshire.
